On view from April 21 to 26, 2026, in Milan’s Brera Design District, DesignSingapore Council returns to Milan Design Week with Prototype Island, an exhibition at Foro Buonaparte 54 that presents Singapore as a living prototype - continually evolving and responding to global challenges through design and technology. Following the Council’s Future Impact series, the new showcase brings together 15 established and emerging designers based in Singapore, selected by lead curator Hunn Wai of Lanzavecchia + Wai and assistant curator Eian Siew, offering a snapshot of future-proof design thinking from one of the world’s leading design nations. Framed by light, flexible structures that emphasize adaptability and change, the exhibition introduces works across three themes: addressing contemporary challenges through technology and material experimentation, rethinking how craft and care systems can evolve together, and imagining new futures for urban living.
