Stefan Sagmeister | Now is Better

Patrick Parrish Gallery is pleased to present “Now is Better”, a solo exhibition of work by renowned Austrian designer Stefan Sagmeister. Opening Friday, May 5th, the exhibition will feature original lenticular prints as well as adapted historical paintings that visualize long-term statistics on global development.

Sagmeister’s new work is largely inspired by the premise of long-term thinking, with each piece covering data trends on humanity (ranging from life expectancy to home ownership rates) over the course of 50 to 200 years. Challenging the overwhelming, highly-saturated content we absorb about the world on the daily through short-term media sources on our screens, Sagmeister’s exhibition offers a grounding, data-oriented approach towards conceiving society's progress. This zoomed-out perspective often points to ways that life on Earth has slowly been improving, providing a boost of hope as we continue working to make “now” better.

About

Patrick Parrish

Since opening his original 22nd Street location in September 2000, Patrick Parrish has drawn top designers (Steven Gambrel, Roman and Williams, Peter Marino), celebrities (Jennifer Aniston, Michael Stipe, Frances McDormand), and fashion industry elite (Jenna Lyons, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Thom Browne) to his galleries. Known for his selection of unusual furniture, lighting and art, Patrick Parrish also exhibited shows from artists such as Hanna Eshel, RO/LU, Liam Lee, Jonathan Nesci, Nicholas Alan Cope, Andy Rementer, Clemens Kois, and Robert Loughlin to name a few. Parrish’s eponymous new space continues to exhibit young, emerging artists and designers (he’s given many their first show in NYC) alongside his expected rare, mid-century pieces with a section of more affordable stuff (under $500). Please come by and see what’s new.
