The Seed marks STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN's second solo exhibition, featuring ceramic sculptural works and colored pencil drawings by acclaimed Franco-Argentine artist Luna Paiva. As both the curators and scenographers of the exhibition, STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN's Founder Nacho Polo and Creative Director Robert Onuska, crafted the Seed as an immersive environment that highlights the dialogue between Paiva's sculptural works and drawings. Their visionary approach to curating the exhibition further exemplifies their role at the forefront of contemporary design curation.
Internationally recognized for her sculptural works in bronze, Paiva's new works feature limited-edition sculptural artworks in colorful glazed ceramic staged alongside her large-scale colored pencil "Aura" drawings framed in the same ceramic material, and an idea sparked by Polo and Onuska's curatorial vision.
Sculptural in form and presence, these works draw inspiration from megalithic architecture and brutalist design, while maintaining a distinct modern sensibility.
Developed during the pandemic and first introduced as "Aura Colectiva" at the 15th Bienal de la Habana in 2024, the drawings mark a significant expansion in Paiva’s practice. They offer a more intimate counterpoint to her sculptural forms while continuing to explore her enduring themes of transformation, materiality, and emotional resonance.
Collectively, these bodies of work comprise The Seed, an immersive exhibition that traces Paiva’s artistic evolution, presenting a unified narrative of her growth and transformation. Blending design, visual art, and personal storytelling, the exhibition challenges viewers to reimagine the expressive boundaries of collectible design and interdisciplinary creativity.
The exhibition is on view now until November 10th at STUDIOTWENTYSEVEN'S New York gallery by appointment only. https://studiotwentyseven.com/
