Friedman Benda presents Nicole Cherubini: Hotel Roma, on view from January 15 to February 21, 2026. An influential figure in contemporary sculpture, Cherubini is widely-known for her clay sculptures that explore topics related to feminist theory and the socioeconomics of aesthetics.
Hotel Roma, Cherubini’s first solo exhibition with the gallery, will feature new, large-scale works that highlight the recent introduction of cast figurative elements into her work. The artist’s work is often made with or in response to other women, past and present, and the power structures and ideas they engage with, ranging from gender and space to erasure and agency. The installation continues her ongoing challenge to cultural hierarchies through iconography, materiality, and subverting high and low traditions.
