On November 2, Friedman Benda will present Ettore Sottsass 1947-1974, marking the first New York solo showcase of Sottsass’ work since the 2017 Met Breuer exhibition, Ettore Sottsass: Design Radical. The exhibition, part of the gallery’s ongoing series dedicated to the expansive oeuvre of the groundbreaking Italian architect and designer, offers a rare and in-depth look into an extremely diverse and fertile period in Sottsass’ career. From the designs of his first furniture pieces to his rare ceramic works, Ettore Sottsass 1947-1974 will provide an overview of the first-half of Sottsass’ career. Alongside rare works, Friedman Benda is displaying original drawings and publications that offer insights into this transformative period.
