Current presents twelve independent artists and designers based along the Brooklyn waterfront whose works represent the tides of contemporary design as part of the NYCxDesign Festival.
This week-long show, curated and organized by Marcus De Paula and Tess De Paula, includes works produced in a range of techniques and materials that forge a new path between contemporary fine art and contemporary design - challenging the confines of these categorizations. Many works are one of a kind, and fabricated by the artists themselves.
“Current aims to present a cross-sectional snapshot of these designers’ evolving practices - some emerging, others established with dozens of past exhibitions worldwide - collectively representing this moment in contemporary design and representing the talent in this area.” says curator Tess De Paula.
The exhibition takes place at a pop-up location at 28 Jay Street in DUMBO, courtesy of Two Trees Management. Production of the exhibition is made possible by support from Jen Lewin Studio.
