All furniture are made in natural solid spruce wood coming from some of these uprooted trees. The tapering refers to how woods are cut for the production of musical instruments, as the lacquering process that is applied to make the soft spruce wood more resistant. The furniture - made in natural solid spruce wood - are all characterized by a particular finishing (shaded grey, extra gloss, visible grain) and are produced in the quantities specified in the catalog’s captions. Starting from this original group of works, custom versions can be developed. The sculpture made by a pile of 7 “Ikea” stools is a unique piece, it has a transparent water-based matt finish and each stool is made in a different kind of wood: beech, cherry, oak, chestnut, walnut, black walnut, ash. The 1858 (Cambio) Furniture Collection is edited by Giustini / Stagetti and each piece is edited in 6 or 12 pieces + 2 AP. It has been presented for the first time on the occasion of Cambio, the solo show held at the Serpentine Galleries (London) from 4th March to 17th May, 2020.
