Set within a converted warehouse in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, Soho House New York rises across six floors and 45,000 square feet, a private members’ club and hotel suspended above the city’s pulse. Opened in 2003 as the city’s first House, it was imagined as a home away from home for creatives, a layered retreat where social and private spaces entwine. From the Main Bar, Dining Room, Drawing Room and Vinyl Room to a 44-seater cinema, Cowshed Spa, and a heated rooftop pool and restaurant, each corner is carefully orchestrated to balance energy and calm. 44 bespoke bedrooms complete the story, each with walk-in rainforest showers and Cowshed bath products, embodying the House’s signature harmony of comfort, craft and considered luxury.

Across the lower floors, corridors shimmer beneath vintage light fixtures, their glow reflected in striped wallpaper, weathered mirrors and a curated mix of framed prints that radiate a bohemian charm. Bedrooms continue this dialogue between grit and glamour: oak floorboards of varying widths, spacious bathtubs and a mix of new and reclaimed furniture coalesce into interiors that feel both lived-in and meticulously composed. Small, thoughtful details — coffee machines, silver teapots, cut glassware, house-made biscuits — punctuate the rooms, inviting moments of pause and reflection amid the city’s constant rhythm.

At the heart of the House, the Club Bar radiates warmth with traditional booth seating and a working fireplace, while the adjoining Dining Room offers understated spaces for lingering meals. Rustic textures — reclaimed timber floors, a salvaged tin ceiling — extend into the Drawing Room and Pantry, where communal dining unfolds with ease. The Screening Room wraps one in taupe velvet chairs and cashmere-draped ottomans, while the Club Room layers tea-stained wallpaper, ornate sconces, chandeliers and reclaimed floors into an intimate cinematic retreat. Above it all, the rooftop — reimagined ahead of the summer 2022 season — unfolds as a sun-washed escape. Two newly renovated bars, including an al fresco setting with stained timber furnishings, custom ceramic lamps and softly coloured upholstery in green, yellow and warm neutrals, are framed by a hand-painted mural by local artist Veronica Lawlor. A floral-inspired palette of rosé-tinted pastels, pink terrazzo checkered flooring, timber wall panelling, a light blue wide-striped awning and generous planting encircle the pool, where loungers, umbrellas, Soho House favourites and refreshing cocktails invite long afternoons overlooking lower Manhattan.

From the energy and layered design of New York — Soho House finds a new expression in Austin, where the city’s vibrant creative spirit shapes every corner of the Texan House.

On South Congress Avenue, Soho House Austin rises like a contemporary retreat for the city’s creative energy. Its three floors house 46 bedrooms, a screening room, rooftop pool, bar and restaurant, alongside flexible spaces to eat, drink and linger. The first House in Texas balances Texas Modernism with a contemporary Spanish sensibility: vintage furnishings meet bespoke pieces, local artists and craftspeople leave their imprint and every corner whispers Austin’s independent spirit. It is a home away from home, where comfort, craft and context meet effortlessly.

One arrives into a reception softened by limewash plaster walls and reclaimed timber floors, where Spanish-inspired curves in furniture echo the city’s relaxed elegance. Ikat linen curtains filter the light and a subtle Texas emblem marks the desk with local pride. Beyond, the screening room and pre-screening bar invite social pause: sofas and armchairs frame views of the courtyard, velvet armchairs with individual footstools and cashmere blankets wrap cinema-goers in quiet warmth. Bedrooms continue this dialogue — natural sisal floors layered over patterned tiles, limewash walls, mid-century lighting and fluted minibars. Wardrobes rise from metal frames or are carved into the architecture itself; larger suites offer terracotta floors, copper bathtubs, integrated sofas and terraces that spill into sunlight, balancing modernity with tradition.

The rooftop terrace crowns the House, shaded by a wooden pergola and with banquettes, low tables and chairs encircling a central tree. There are aged reclaimed wooden floor lamps and glass pendant lights dotted throughout. Indoors, a chequered limestone floor flows into the main club featuring a dark reclaimed timber ceiling, plaster walls, a carved wooden bar, stone tables, leather seating, linen lanterns and ceramic lamps by Austin artist Keith Kreeger. A cactus-lined path leads to the pool, edged with loungers in Texas tribal patterns on a bold orange-and-white chequered floor, framed by verdant planting. Across a wall, a mural by Desireé Vaniecia challenges stereotypes and celebrates African American women — a vivid, poetic reminder that Soho House Austin is as much about story and culture as it is about space.
