Design Miami/ Expands to Los Angeles: A New Chapter in Global Design, Art, and Culture

Design Miami/ has unveiled its plans to expand its global footprint by launching Design Miami/ Los Angeles, adding to its prestigious list of fairs in Basel, Paris, and Miami Beach. This inaugural event on the West Coast is scheduled for May 16-20, 2024, with exclusive Preview Days on May 16 and 17, accessible by invitation only. The fair will be hosted at a privately owned estate in Holmby Hills, originally designed by the renowned late architect Paul Williams. This move to Los Angeles signifies Design Miami/'s intention to further integrate the worlds of design, fashion, and entertainment, featuring an array of international design galleries, collaborations, and special projects. In a significant appointment, Henrik Purienne has been named the Global Creative Director for Design Miami/'s 2024 fair program. Known for his work as a visual artist and as the founder of Mirage Magazine, Purienne will lead the artistic direction and visual presentation of the fair across its international locations, including Los Angeles, Basel, Paris, and Miami Beach. Furthermore, Ashlee Harrison joins the team as the Curatorial Director for the Los Angeles edition. With nearly two decades of experience in the arts and culture sector, most notably as the former Director of the Americas for Carpenters Workshop Gallery, Harrison will oversee the curation of the fair. Her role includes orchestrating a discerning selection of international collectible design galleries and arranging site-specific exhibitions that will showcase a mix of historic and contemporary furniture, lighting, and objets d’art throughout the 3-acre estate.

The launch of Design Miami/ Los Angeles reflects a period of significant growth for the fair.
