In the home of Alfonso Tagliaferri, designed by architecture and design studio 02A, unexpected architectural details harmonize with the traditional aspects of the apartment.
A blue velvet curtain opens into the most unique room within the apartment, the bedroom, which features Ukiyo wallpaper by Nobilis on the doors of the custom wardrobe along the periphery of the room, reflected against a reflective cube that encloses the bathroom.
Studio 02A’s design goal was to allow the home to remain “unfinished” - where imperfections add to the intrigue of the interiors and Tagliaferri’s eclectic collections within.

The feature of the project is the primary bedroom suite with an open-space bathroom characterized by a mirrored cubic enclosure that expands the domestic view, emphasizing the natural light coming from three large windows.

02A completed a renovation that enhances Tagliaferri’s collections within the shell of a classic Roman apartment enhanced by surprising contemporary details. Large plants envelop the ground-level home, uniting the indoor and outdoor spaces, and casting a dialogue between nature and structure.
Bretagne sofas by Frau; French deco armchairs from the 1940s; floor lamp, ancient Venetian lantern; bespoke bookcase in Tuscan Red by Little Greene; work of the South African artist Bronwyn Katz. Photography by Serena Eller

The living room blends key design from the 1940s with art by the young South African artist Bronwyn Katz. The area leads to direct access to the Tiber river, opening to the outside space furnished with deck chairs, shielding vines, and monstera plants, all under the shade of a large palm tree.

The bathroom, brilliantly enclosed by a smoked mirror surface, creates volume within the bedroom and an unexpected reflection of all the bedroom details.

The interior of the 130 sqm ground floor apartment is located between the greenery of the East bank of the Tiber river and the Parioli Mountains. The project gives rise to a dynamic “outdoors-in” environment due to the generous garden and plants that seem to have grown into the home, creating a feeling of a future relic to be discovered in years to come.
