Ligare

From September 5 to October 5, 2024, in two acts from Paris Design Week to Paris Fashion Week, SINOPLE presents "Ligare", an installation between architecture, design, art and fashion.

Laurel Parker Book, Inès Bressand Studio and Miyouki Nakajima, united by their explorations and cultural cross-fertilization of natural fibers, from Japan to Ghana, present an artistic and functional panorama of innovative and contemporary uses for washi paper, silk and an African grass.

The materials they discovered during their residencies, or the fiber processing techniques they learned on their own, enable them to ennoble and give form to a simple material. The result is atypical, contemporary productions that take a fresh look at traditional know-how. Fiber becomes the link between ancestral and hybrid practices, between the cultures from which they originate and those of these creators. Paper becomes a surface or volume for architecture, grass becomes furniture or fashion accessories, while silk becomes sculpture or abstract composition. In this ensemble, light and shadow compose with the reflections and lines of the materials.

About

SINOPLE

Founded in 2018 by Julien Strypsteen and Eric-Sébastien Faure-Lagorce, SINOPLE is both a gallery and a studio specializing in the direction of artistic projects. Located in the Marais district of Paris, the gallery brings together the fine, decorative and applied arts in all its proposals. SINOPLE is thus a space for research, production and exhibition, reflecting a decompartmentalized contemporary creation in which the creative act sometimes confers on its author the status of artist, designer or craftsman, and on its production the rank of work or piece of furniture, art object. With an approach rooted in a strong sensitivity to materials, gesture and technique, the gallery also sees itself as a bridge between players in the creative industries, a path towards a form of innovation that does not deny its heritage, and favors a conceptual and narrative approach in the choice of works it presents. The gallery’s first edition, a work table commissioned from an architect in collaboration with a chestnut craftsman, entered the collections of the Mobilier National. Some of the designers she represents and exhibits are winners of the Grands Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris, Design Parade Toulon, residents of Villa Kujoyama, the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès and guests at Venice Glass Week.
