Vital Spaces

Vital Spaces, a solo show by Yasmin Bawa, is a sculptural exhibition that also marks the artist’s first foray into painting. The show explores themes of transformation, duality, and self-discovery, reflecting a personal journey of healing and growth rooted in a year of deep introspection. Central to this work is the concept of roots—both as a natural phenomenon and a metaphor for identity—expressed through abstract forms that evoke resilience and the hidden emotional layers of self. Yasmin views space as a living force that shapes perceptions and experiences, with her sculptures and paintings embodying the dynamic interplay between grounding and expansion. By inviting viewers to engage with the familiar and the mysterious, Vital Spaces fosters reflection on personal transformations and the interconnectedness of life, art, and the spaces we inhabit.

Yasmin Bawa is a sculptor whose work explores the intersection of space, natural materials, and traditional hand-building techniques. Drawing on careful observation of spatial forms, she creates her pieces through a slow, layered process that allows space for meditation and reflection. At the forefront of her current exploration is hemp lime—a fusion of hemp shiv and a lime binder—symbolising strength, renewability, and sustainability. Her work reflects not only her artistic vision but also her commitment to eco-friendly practices and mindful consumption. Yasmin's sculptures embody curves, flowing lines, and organic shapes, celebrating the harmonious coexistence of strength and vulnerability, intricacy and simplicity.

About

Sainte Anne Gallery

Sainte Anne Gallery is an international meeting point between contemporary art and collectible design, showcasing emerging and established artists and designers who fuse innovative and sustainable ideas. The gallery was founded in 2021 by Masha Novoselova and Bianca Lee Vasquez, and is located in the Parisian Japanese neighbourhood, nearby the Louvre and Bourse de Commerce. As much as a gallery it is an artist-run space, thriving with interdisciplinary performances, art dinners and ceremonial rituals. Sainte Anne Gallery has a strong focus on representing female artists and giving them opportunity to create poetic compositions within the space of the gallery. Each exhibition is carefully choreographed as an independent universe telling a story of alliances between the art world and the living world.
