INSPECTION Prouvé / Leschelier

Produced by Numeronovantasei and curated by its two directors, Elena Bonaccini and Hugo Abraham, the exhibition will take over the space of Galerie Mercier & Associés from March 27 to April 27, 2025.

Between architecture, contemporary art, and design, the exhibition explores the dynamics of construction and perception through the lens of Marc Leschelier, whose artistic practice interrogates raw materiality and fabrication processes.

Rather than a simple juxtaposition, Numeronovantasei has chosen to reveal how his work resonates with the legacy of Jean Prouvé, particularly in its structural radicality and constructive autonomy. Instead of presenting the works head-on, “INSPECTION Prouvé / Leschelier” shifts the viewer’s focus to their undersides, hidden details, and markers of authenticity. This approach is inspired by a recurring observation: collectors, gallerists, and visitors striving to catch a glimpse of the green bulb concealed within Leschelier’s worksite lights, revealing a fascination with what is usually invisible.

The artist extends this reflection by questioning how we analyze objects, whether from the realms of architecture, design, or art.

Through a system of mirrors and powerful lighting, the exhibition dramatizes this act of inspection, heightening volumes and uncovering unexpected dimensions of the exhibited works. More than mere observation, this is a true test of perception, where the precision of expertise meets sensory and artistic experience.

By presenting Jean Prouvé’s pieces through the lens of expertise, the exhibition also reaffirms its curatorial approach to historical furniture. This interplay between rigorous analysis and artistic vision reflects Numeronovantasei’s ambition: to offer a renewed perspective on the dialogues between architecture and contemporary art while highlighting the formal and conceptual power of design.
