In tandem with their participation in the inaugural edition of Design Miami/ Paris, NYC gallery Demisch Danant will debut their Galleries in Residence program with Paris-based Galerie Anne-Sophie Duval. Focused on the exchange of exhibition spaces with like-minded galleries, the intention of the program and its off-site installations is to engage with broader audiences and enrich the understanding of French design both in France and internationally. As part of this collaborative exchange, Demisch Danant’s curatorial program will present a selection of over sixty pieces from the 1950-1970’s, honoring the era of French design that the gallery has been championing for the last twenty years. Designers on view include Maria Pergay, Louis Sognot, Maxime Old, Jacques Dumond, Joseph-André Motte, Colette Gueden, René-Jean Caillette, Etienne Fermigier, Geneviève Dangles, Claude de Muzac, Serge Mansau, Bernard Govin, Jacques Charpentier, Michel Boyer, Janette Laverrière, Janine Abraham. The furniture selection will be complemented by a series of artworks by painter Alain Jacquet, a leading force of the Pop Art movement. Contemporary artist Jean-Baptiste Caron will transform the gallery's window display around the corner, on rue Bonaparte, with a multi-media, site-specific installation titled ‘Tout crépuscule est une aube’ (‘Every twilight is a dawn’).
