As suggested by the title ‘Sub-currents (At work)’, Rooms Studio’s presentation consists of multiple invisible currents that create the experience of a whole, like the threads of a woven rug. Gracefully occupying the workspace of an office, the installation is not only “at work” within an otherwise sterile modern environment, but it also engages in a continuous act of resistance in its own expression.
The harmonious choreography and display of the presentation leave none of the objects in dominance over the others. Together, each of the pieces creates one whole, without hierarchy. The subtle, monochromatic colors of the works establish a dialogue against the backdrop of electric blue construction tarpaulin, setting an ambience that defines the atmosphere of the show. There is an unspoken parallel with the ongoing protests happening in the duo’s hometown, where citizens rally to reclaim their rights and stand for the country’s European path, a reconstruction in its own right.
