Proof of Concept at 83 Rivington Street

Proof of Concept is a show founded by David Irwin, Smith Matthias, and Atelier Thirty Four. The exhibition aims to provoke thought about the innovation process, highlighting the significant hurdles that groundbreaking ideas often face, such as limited funding and the need for support from larger brands and manufacturers. Bringing together design studios and independent designers from various fields—including furniture, product design, ceramics, textiles, and architecture—Proof of Concept offers a unique platform for showcasing innovative self-initiated designs, products that didn’t make it to market, and existing designs. The show sheds light on the extensive development journey behind each creation, celebrating the ingenuity and perseverance of the designers.
