Liberty Labs Foundation is proud to present its first in-house exhibition, “No Right Angles”. Liberty Labs Foundation is a collective studio of international and independent designers, artists, architects and highly skilled artisans. It is located in the historic Liberty Warehouse, once home to the Statue of Liberty before it was installed in New York Harbor in 1886. Liberty Lab’s goal is to host makers with a variety of backgrounds in order to foster their independent practices in a collaborative and constructive environment. Curated by artist and Liberty Labs Co-founder, Evan Yee, “No Right Angles” is an exhibition of present and past members of the collective studio, and is meant to be emblematic of each member’s work or interests. With different creative backgrounds, each member brings new and valuable perspective to an ever evolving work space. There is truly “No Right Angle” from which a person can approach making, no correct background that lends itself to the creative process, and no amount of professionalism needed to approach experimentation. While every piece in this show is created with expertise, “No Right Angles” demonstrates that nothing can be done without approaching some sort of unknown. And even with expertise, the unknown must be approached with both boldness and humility.

A non-profit organization supporting small creative based businesses. Located in a 6,000 square foot space within the historic Liberty Warehouse in Red Hook, Brooklyn, our studio is home to 17 members who employ a hybrid approach to wood and metal working. That means using traditional hand tools in conjunction with high quality industrial machinery to produce the finest possible work.
