Angels is a series of pieces that represent the idea of a mold, the mold of an idea.
The project is a sequel to another project, Design Paradise. Design Paradise was a story about the spirit of objects, in which the mold is the main character. The story suggests that the mold was a great leap of cognition and consciousness by helping give shape to abstract thoughts. Molds were a milestone in second-order instrumentality – making objects that make objects that make objects etc. –, unleashing a process where objects escape human control to ultimately gain their own agency.
Angels escaped Design Paradise.
Angels, the objects, are meant to be assembled or disassembled and are equally enjoyable in either state. They suggest the conditions and means of object making and self-generation. The space or void within is as pleasing as the shape or shell of the object itself. Angels were made over the course of a few months starting in January 2021 in Brooklyn, NY and Eindhoven, NL using mostly leftover, scrapped, donated or found materials.

About
cooler gallery
Cooler is an art gallery started within a repurposed industrial icebox outside the Brooklyn Navy Yard — the physical border of large art, design, and manufacturing communities. The curation aims to reflect the essence of this intersection. Cooler Gallery seeks to be a breeding ground for thought at the crossing of fine art, design and manufacturing. Cooler hosts monthly group and solo exhibitions showcasing a specific artist, medium or theme. As a general guideline, pieces should engage the space itself, should incorporate ideas of material/form/space/color/texture, and genuinely inspire delight or reflection.
